Believe me, I appreciate Midge for more than just his looks. He's a great singer, one of the best from the 80's. I've just been watching his 2001 Rewind tour on DVD. If I was just interested in the 'outside shell' I wouldn't be watching him now he's old!

I just picked up an old Yamaha SS30 string synthesizer. It nails this song's synth sound PERFECTLY and I believe that's what he used on this track. A terrible decade for music, but a brilliant and criminally underrated/overlooked artist.

The 80s for all the criticism it gets was exceptional decade for music, but don't forget how many songs are also covered from the 60s. They may not go back to Glenn Miller, but the 60s is a hugely covered decade in music. Personally I think the Irish Blues musician Don Baker did the best version, but it is one of those songs that you couldn't make crap if you tried.
